The majority of the members of the Algerian community residing in Italy disapproved of the terms of Article 51 of the draft constitutional revision.

And hence, they feel that this contentious article discriminates against dual nationals who wouldn’t be allowed to have access to high positions in public institutions in their home country Algeria.

All wonder how we got stuck in this quandary by creating a disparity and even a yawning gap between the Algerians of the same country, as they put it.

Cases in point are successful people met overseas by “Echorouk” reporters like Noureddine, an Algerian filmmaker as well as Karim who has been in Italy for 20 years, and Toufik hailing from the Batna region, or others who are currently settled in Canada and the United States who expressed their availability to contribute to the socio-economic development of their mother land through their high skills, their know-how and the transfer home of their foreign currency assets.

They also called on the Algerian authorities to revise their judgment on the issue of acquisition of new housing formulas, especially as the country is much in need of foreign hard currencies.
