Algerians Stranded In Libya Call On The Authorities To Evacuate Them

Several Algerians stranded in the Libyan capital Tripoli call upon the Algerian authorities, headed by the President of the Republic, to take the necessary measures to carry out their evacuation as soon as possible.

An Algerian in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, called Echorouk, to communicate the voice of his friends to the higher authorities, he spokesman. He works as an engineer in a telecommunications company in Libya, and revealed his suffering with other Algerians, including women and children, as the curfew measures approved by the Libyan authorities restricted their movement and prevented them from seeking to take the necessary measures for their return to the homeland.

He explained that he moved, accompanied by a large number of Algerians, to the Ras Jedir crossing on the Libyan-Tunisian border, but that the Tunisian authorities refused to enter the Algerians on the pretext of closing the border, despite allowing, according to him, the entry of Tunisian nationals who were in Libya.

A video obtained by Echorouk from one of those stranded in Libya shows that a number of them went to the headquarters of the Algerian embassy in Libya, but it is closed after the issue of the threats in 2014, and they only found the guard who directed them to contact the Algerian consulate located in Tunisia, but the numbers do not answer.

According to these citizens, they moved on behalf of a large number of Algerians who were unable to move due to the strict curfews in the Libyan capital, while one of them confirmed that they are suffering due to these conditions while understanding the deteriorating security situation in Libya, this is why the Algerian authorities cannot send a plane to take transport them to the homeland, but at the same time, they demanded that they are allowed to enter the homeland, through the border crossing (Ghadames – Al-Dabdab) in the south, confirming their willingness to stay in quarantine for the specified time.

According to one of the Algerians who called Echorouk, they want to return after the harassment they faced from some militias, which reached the extent of stealing their money and threatening to withdraw their passports, while some of them stayed with some Libyan citizens, in the hope that the Algerian authorities would intervene, as they confirm that they register on the website that Algeria launched for the benefit of nationals stranded abroad.

Previously, the Algerian authorities have allowed some Algerians stranded at the (Ghadames – Dabdab) crossing at the beginning of the Coruna virus crisis to enter the Algerian soil with their commitment to stay in the quarantine before they left in good health.
