Algerians Stranded In Oman Call On Tebboune To Order Their Evacuation

Algerians stranded in the Sultanate of Oman called upon the Algerian authorities to take an urgent decision and the necessary measures to evacuate them to the homeland, before Eid Al Fitr, especially in light of the deterioration of the health and psychological state of most of them.

One of the Algerians who are stranded in the Sultanate of Oman told Echorouk that dozens of them are stranded since months ago, and they want to return to the homeland, but things were stalled and worsen after the suspension of flights between the two countries on March 18.

“The matter concerned about 100 Algerians, including tourists, students and employees who are accredited in hospitals and frames in various fields, similar to oil companies, some of them were on missions outside Algeria, and some of them travelled for treatment, or in the framework of the tourist visa, and others benefited from Official business visits” – he added -.

“They live in force majeure conditions, especially women and the elderly, as a result of the COVID19 spread, especially in the holy month of Ramadan, where they found themselves away from their families for more than three months, and because they are located in a desert area outside the urban life”.

“Algeria’s Foreign Ministry asked the Algerians wishing to be evacuated to register in a special website, as it set the date of April 23rd as the deadline for this, but the situation remained unchanged and no new measures were taken since then. The community in the Sultanate of Oman already appealed to the Algerian authorities to evacuate the stranded on special humanitarian flights”.
