Algerians trust only in Bouteflika, MSP leader says
President Bouteflika will not run for a fourth term due to reviewing the Constitution in the second half of this year,MSP leader Abu Jarra Soltani said.
“I think the President Bouteflika will not run for a fourth term, because he has done his task in the past 12 years in the presidency, thus he had left from the wide door, as well as the constitutional amendment expected for the end of 2012 or beginning of 2013, which will bring back the introduction of the single term system that can be renewable only once,” Abu Jarra added.
Asked about whether the upcoming parliament, after elections expected on 10 May, will have the courage to return to this issue again, Soltani said; “Even if the council will return with its present form, it is impossible to continue work with open presidential terms,” in reference to the developments experienced by the Arab region and their impact on the internal situation of the countries.
In another context, Soltani said that the Algerians, “Trust only in the president Bouteflika,” while he was talking about the integrity of the legislative elections, and called on the President Bouteflika, to take further action on the ground to block the attempts by some parties to prejudice the elections’ credibility.
“President of the Republic realized all political guarantees, and this was reflected in his speech in Arzew (west of Algeria),during the ceremony of the double anniversary for the nationalization of hydrocarbons and the establishment of the General Union of Algerian Workers, and in his statement at the conference of the Organization of the Mujahideen. However; these guarantees need laws on the ground, such as a decree which punishes counterfeiters immediately, with the possibility of prison as soon as evidence of their implication in breaching the electoral process is available”, he asserted.
Abu Jarra confirmed the need to bring control to the polls and during the transfer and collection of ballot boxes, to avoid fraud, explaining that the administration is responsible for the process of collection, pointing out that the Algerian justice will be placed before a difficult test;”On behalf of the bloc I say: If the judicial authorities want to reach high credibility, this is their test “.
