Head of the National Front for Change (an under construction party) has called upon the people to “punish” the three-party alliance in power by not voting for them in next parliamentary elections.

Mr Abdelmadjid Menacera who was the guest of Echorouk said the Algerian people has always supported Islamist trend in elections, wondering however why the leaders of the Labour Party and the FLN party have been minimizing the chances of Islamists in the upcoming electoral rendezvous.

Mr Menacera said: “Algerian voters have proved so many times that they lean to Islamist candidates; and this is obvious regarding the Islam reference of the Algerian people, adding that “the voters sees in Islamist candidates a symbol to devotion, integrity and respect.”

He further assumed that Algeria like the other Arab countries, referring to Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt, will see Islamists making a landslide win during next spring elections “should these elections be transparent and free.”

The opponent Islamist indicated that “the win of Islamists in Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt was not a surprise, but the surprise was the fall of the dictator systems and the parties to which the majority had been fabricated.”

Elsewhere, former vice head of Islamist MSP slammed the campaign of “intimidation by Islamists,” but said it will not have impact on Algerians. “If such a campaign worked, it would have done soothing in Morocco, Tunisia or Egypt,” he said, stressing that “those who are leading this campaign are the same who encouraged Islamists yesterday to take arms to push them towards suicide, and ultimately get rid of them, once for all.”
