General Director of the National Oil Refining Company – NAFTEC- Akli Rimini confirmed Saturday that the company developed an investment of four billion dollars for rehabilitation of three refiners of the company in Skikda (east of Algeria), Algiers, Oran and Arzew( western Algeria). This program allows Algeria to lift refining capacity of 22 million tons annually to 27 million tons of various materials refined annually starting from 2012.

Akli Rimini added that the company will receive early next year a new refinery with capacity of 3.5 million tons of oil production NAFTA, which is basically used in petrochemical industries.

Sonatrach will begin the construction of the largest refinery in Algeria with an annual production capacity estimated at 15 million tons of crude oil in Tiaret province (west of Algiers) worth of 5 billions dollars. That will enable Algeria to produce refined materials of high hygiene and international quality especially gasoline, clean diesel and various high-refined materials; which will allow Algeria to increase its exports of refined materials so as to lift revenues from international currency because of its high value in the international markets compared to crude oil’s price. The General Director said that the refinery will start production in Tiaret province by 2014 enabling Algeria to double its production of refined materials most demanded in worldwide because of refining problems in the United States of America, Europe and the major consumption areas including south-eastern Asia.
