Algiers judicial council will open on Thursday the case of hacking more than 6,000 phone lines from the company “Algerie Telecom”, following an order by the Public Prosecutor to reopen the file, on the background of the emergence of new data, about fraud and distortion of the facts, mostly the implication of 16 companies and 9 officials in the case that cost the company’s treasury over 9 billion dinars.

The opening of this case after a complaint by the six defendants by the public prosecutor of Algiers judicial council against the investigating judge and inspectors in Algerie Telecom, who were assigned to investigate in the hacking, the first party was accused of not conducting a technical expertise that identifies the responsibilities of two accused in 2004, while the second party was accused on hiding dangerous information in the case to protect other persons who were not mentioned in it, which led to deviating the case from the right direction.
Public prosecutor of Algiers judicial court has the list of nine officials and 16 companies implicated in having the phone conversations in Algerie Telecom, as a number of defendants who ended their punishment period, presented evidence about deforming some facts in the investigation that was carried out by the regional inspectorate of Algerie Telecom in the central region at that time, as some evidence was damaged for toughening security services and justice, and investigators hided the truth about some accused.
One of the most important evidences is that investigators did not conduct a technical expertise to detect the hacking in order to determine the responsibilities and detect the real involved.
Former manager of Hussein Day agency, also an expert at the French company of communications “Sofracom” Eric Rafin” accused them of including a unlocked digital code for the program of containing the conversations and telephonic lines, which made the program available for everyone, and make it susceptible to piracy, but those assigned to investigate in the case did not speak about this point that the victim considered important turning point in the investigation.
