Algiers Criminal Court:Trial of Mokhtar Belmokhtar and nine other terrorists starts
Algiers (22/01/2012) – Trial of Mokhtar Belmokhtar, an AQIM leader, starts today at Algiers Criminal Court along with other 10 terrorists implicated in terrorist attacks, kidnappings, and intentional murder of soldiers in Djelfa (300 km south of Algiers) in 2010, APS reported.
This trial brings 10 defendants before justice while four of them are still wanted, including Mokhtar Belmokhtar who exists in the list of Interpol wanted persons.
According to the indictment, the facts of the case back to May, 13, 2010 when units of the Algerian armed troops ambushed the terrorists in the region of Massad (Djelfa), and arrested the main suspect “Bencheneb Abdelkader.
According to the same source, the accused Bbencheneb Abdelkader was in charge of securing the road for the terrorist groups which killed two soldiers, one was a sergeant and the other was a sergeant major in the region of Laadam (Massad, Djelfa) during a combing operation by armed troops.
Initial investigation in the case –as with the decision- led to the identification of some members in the terrorist group including Mokhtar Belmokhtar “Al Awar” and his fellows Bourahla Moussa, Bencheneb Mohamed and Bencheneb Youçef and Hassan called “Announi”, who are in escape.
The accused Bencheneb Abdelkader admitted, through all stages of the investigation that he secured the road of those terrorists – belonging to the group of wanted- until they killed the two soldiers Lannabi Bouzid and Moksim Mohamed, in the village of Massad (Djelfa).
Terrorists Mokhtar Belmokhtar, Bencheneb Abdelkader, Bencheneb Youçef and Bencheneb Mohamed are pursued on charge of belonging to a terrorist group operating inside and outside the country and intentional murder.
