Algiers Hosts An International Conference On Counterterrorism Next September, Messahel

Algeria is to host an international conference on the fight of terrorism and organized crime in the Sahel region, on September 7-8 in Algiers the capital, said Thursday Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs, Abdelkader Messahel.

The conference has been recommended by a meeting held last May in Bamako, Mali, where the Sahel countries have agreed on a counterterrorism plan, through attributing priority to development projects. 

The September conference will see the attendance of African countries, foreign partners in the fight against terrorism, and UN permanent member countries, including Russia, China and the United States of America.

The conference is due to discuss three key topics, like the fight of terrorism and organized crime, and assessing the progress of development projects initiated in northern Mali, Niger and Mauritania.
