Algiers, Rabat Don’t Need Mediation to Reinforce Their Relations, Ibrahimi

Former Algeria Foreign Minister, Lakhdar Ibrahimi, said Saturday in Paris that Algeria and Morocco’s deteriorated relations do not need a mediation of any party to get them improved.

In an allocution to a conference organized by France-Algeria Association held in the French National Assembly (the lower house of the Parliament), Mr Brahimi indicated “Algiers and Rabat do not need the help of anybody to improve their deteriorated relations.”

Elsewhere, the former UN SG assistant said that the bias of France concerning the Western Sahara issue, does not, actually, serve the interest of Morocco.

 “The United States does its best to remain neutral as to contribute positively in bringing a solution to the Western Sahara issue, while France has chosen biasing to Morocco, but actually, this does not serve the interest of Rabat,” the veteran diplomat noted.

He further stressed that “the Western Sahara is an international issue dealt with at the level of the United Nation, where France and the US are permanent member countries, and are both close to Morocco.”
