Amara Benyounes: “President Bouteflika is set to vie for a fourth mandate”
The leader of the Algerian Popular Movement (MPA), Amara Benyounes, has informed his senior party members that there is every likelihood that incumbent Abdellaziz Bouteflika will vie for a fourth consecutive presidential mandate during next April’s presidential electoral contest.
Taking the floor earlier this week during a broad-based meeting with senior members of his party in the city of Annaba in far eastern Algeria, Amara Benyounes described the recent statement by FLN party secretary general Amar Saâdani announcing President Bouteflika’s projected election bid as sound and correct, stressing that he himself had secured similar information to this effect from most reliable sources.
Amara Benyounes said that it was almost certain that Bouteflika would again stand as candidate for a fourth mandate on voting day slated for April 17th 2014
He indicated that the incumbent President would officially announce his candidacy when the time is ripe and he deems it appropriate
The MPA leader further pointed out that his movement along with other political parties in addition to mass organizations and civil society members wouldn’t waver to extend their full support for Bouteflika’s much-awaited candidacy, adding that the President’s myriad positive feats and achievements plead for a renewal of his 5 year mandate through the ballot box on election day.
