Anadarko, British Council sign sponsoring agreement to train Algerian teachers
Anadarko Algeria Company (LLC) and the British Council signed a sponsoring agreement of 55 thousand pounds sterling Monday to train 320 Algerian teachers in English.

“The British Council has signed such an agreement with a private company for the first time. This process is very important because we think that the British Council should work with private companies like Anadarko,” British Council Director Jeremy Jacobson told reporters in Algiers.

This comes as part of a partnership project between the British Council and the Algerian education ministry to train 1,000 teachers in English by 2010.

Anadarko’s representative Hadia Dabchaouche said the company’s success key is having partnership with local institutions and dealing with the community.

British Ambassador to Algiers Andrew Anderson qualified the partnership between the private and public sectors as “very important and I am ready to offer support,” he said.

English training manager Jansis McGrady said the British Council trained more than 500 Algerian teachers so far.
-
-
“It will be an intensive training of seven days. The British Council will bring British trainers working in North Africa,” she added.

She also said the training will be ended by the TKT test. “That will allow the teachers to evaluate their level.”
