Anchorage period at Algiers Port decreased to 50% in 2010: Algeria avoids loss of quarter billion dollars per year
The anchorage period at Algiers port has been reduced by nearly half in 2010, following the government's decision to redirect non-containerized goods to other national ports, officials from Ports Shareholdings Management Company (SGP-SOGEPORTS) said Tuesday.
The average wait in the harbor was 3.14 days in 2009 to, while this average went down to 1.58 days from January 1 to December 1, 2010, i.e. a 49.68%, down, the same source added.
The government decided, since October 2009, the reorientation of non-containerized cargo traffic on other ports.
Hence, all the landing and embarkation activities of non-containerized goods were shared between other national port facilities.
