Appeals commission accuses social affairs advisor of tampering with 20 applications files for social housing in Baraki municipality

The appeals commission in charge of making a deep perusal of a number of questionable application files submitted by certain Diar El Baraka residents in their quest for new social housing units in their own municipality of Baraki ended Wednesday its proceedings.

• The Mayor of  Baraki municipality told Echorouk that the appeals commission members had thoroughly examined the pending files and cleansed the situation by retaining in the ongoing rehousing program only those citizens who fulfill the required criteria and conditions in keeping with the relevant laws and regulations.

• He also indicated that a social affairs advisor working at the administrative constituency of Baraki was now the subject of a security investigation on charges of direct involvement in the falsification of about 20 application files for the acquisition of new housing units submitted by certain shadowy people who had supplied mendacious information about their residence status.

• Many of these dishonest applicants  have not resided on a permanent basis in the Baraki municipality and  reportedly possess undisclosed flats elsewhere in Algiers, well-informed sources say.

• The Mayor stressed that the situation had now been straightened out and all the applicants retained by the appeals commission would be rehoused as soon as possible.
