Armed troops eliminate six terrorists east of Algiers

Boumerdes (east of Algiers) – Security forces surrounded a number of terrorists including leaders who preparing for a secret meeting in the region of Zemouri (east of Boumerdes), and eliminated six of them.

This is the largest military operation in the locality since ten years. It was launched at about 12:00 pm on Tuesday in the region of Zemouri, where security forces closed the national road n° 24 linking the municipality where Chouicha forest the place of the operation. For the first time the armed forces used barges to bomb terrorists, after receiving information about the movement of terrorist groups including leaders towards the forest in question, which represents a major stronghold of terrorism and the secret place of Zemouri battalion.

The blockade by armed troops forced the terrorists, whose number exceeded 40 members, according to Echorouk sources, who joined the forest coming from several localities, including four leaders, to enter in a clash that lasted for hours. Armed troops used heavy equipment including barges, artillery and helicopters that bombed the place.

The military operation resulted in the elimination of six terrorists, as a preliminary toll, and the retrieval of their weapons, while other terrorists remain under tightened siege, including leaders from Tizi Ouzou and Bouira (east of Algiers) and security forces are still negotiating with them to surrender before raiding the whole place, especially after the arrival of intensive security reinforcements.

Echorouk sources said that large numbers of terrorists came to this region to attend a secret emergency meeting to discuss the current situation of AQIM due to their failure in carrying terrorist attacks and the dismantling of many terrrism back up cells in the urban areas.
