Army officers within the Central Bureau for the Suppression of Corruption
Ministry of National Defense commissioned officers and agents of the judicial police, who are belonging to the Directorate of queries and security, at the central bureau, to suppress corruption at the Ministry of Finance, and this days just after the abolition of the security apparatus of the Ministry of Interior that is specialized in monitoring the crisis that had been created in 2003.
According to the Joint Ministerial decision that was released in 27the edition of the Official Gazette, dating on 22 May, and signed by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Defense Abdelmalek Guenaizia, and Finance Minister, Karim Joudi, it was decided to commission officers and agents of the judicial police belonging to the Ministry of National Defense, to the Central bureau of suppressing corruption at the Ministry of Finance, a body which was created in 2011, and its leadership was assigned to Abdelmalek Sayeh.
The ministerial decree did not mention whether the agents of the Judicial Police were recruited at the Ministry of Interior, in April 2012 to work under the supervision of the Bureau, or the decree was cancelled under the joint Ministerial Decree between the Ministries of Defense and Interior, and was issued in the 21th edition of the Official Gazette dated on 11 April 2012.
Previously, the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, has canceled in the 23rd edition of the Official Gazette of 28 April 2012, in the executive decree that carries the No.13-156, “The national practical centre to help the decision”, which was created in the era of the former Interior Minister, Noureddine Yazid Zerhouni, 10 years ago, a move which was considered as a reduction of the work of the intelligence service, as it was decided to establish a Central Bureau for the Suppression of Corruption in the context of the application of a presidential instruction in December 2009, related to activating the fight against corruption, and as an evidence for the government’s intention to combat corruption according to previous statements by the Minister of Finance.
