Artist's assassin eliminated by security sources

Security forces eliminated on Monday night one of the terrorists involved in the assassination of the Berber poet and singer Maatoub Lounes, the interior minister Yazid Noureddine Zerhouni has revealed. The man goes by the name “Fayçal”.

• He pointed out that the number of  killed terrorists is going crescendo and estimated they are in a constant rise, indicating that the Algerian authorities are heavily relying on a set security plan to wipe out more terrorists in the future.
• Taking the floor yesterday on the sidelines of the Algerian president’s working visit of inspection to the province of Sidi-Belabes (western Algeria), M Zerhouni declared to “Echorouk” that security forces are intensifying their activities against the terrorists’ strongholds stressing that more is yet to come in the next few days . .
• Declining to give further details about the elimination of the singer’s assassin, M Zerhouni spoke of  about 160 killed terrorist during the operations conducted by the security services.  He reiterated the authorities’ will to put an end to the terrorist’s activities saying that these groups have no other choice than to surrender or to be killed the security forces.
• On the other hand, the minister denied allegations saying that he intended to impose limits on the  political parties’ activities be it in the opposition or inside the government, thus discounting some newspaper articles concerning a decision to prohibit political activities by those parties which call for abstentions during the upcoming presidential elections of April 9th.
