Baba Ahmed: Reform of Educational system fail to reach its objectives
Minister of National Education Abdellatif Baba Ahmed accused on Sunday the municipalities of being responsible to ensure transportation, feeding and heating in schools, arguing that his sector can not provide these services alone, implicitly criticizing the system of reform, which did not achieve all the desired results.
Baba Ahmed announced, on the sidelines of the conclusion of the parliament’s autumn session, that his ministry is working to provide assistance to the municipal councils in order to secure transportation, feeding and heating for pupils, who suffered greatly during this winter, adding that it is currently seeking to renew heaters in this cold season, and that the disrupt of the process is an exceptional circumstances in municipalities because of the recent elections, which have disrupted activity of the former mayors, and ordered the need to inform the new elected about the work of municipalities, before starting the performance of their duties.
The minister announced the formal launch, since Saturday, in the evaluation of the reform of the educational system, to continue the process until 11 April, as study days will be organized at the national level, and will be conclude with a three-day national symposium, explaining that his ministry has identified the outline for evaluating the system, which is the focus on training, because reform should focus on the level of training, as well as doubling the number of educational institutions to eliminate overcrowding.
The minister explained that a part of the proposals to be reached will be applied by the beginning of next year, but criticized implicitly the educational reform, because it did not achieve all the expected goals, so he said that school days for the assessment of reform will try to search for constraints that made reform does not achieve all its expected results, and that debate, which will last 70 days will respond to the raised concerns.
