Bad weather: Citizens Stranded, injured and terrified after 48 hours of storms
Services of the civil protection registered more than 4000 intervention, during the last two days, due to the bad weather in many areas across the national territory, mostly evacuation of citizens who stranded inside their vehicles on the roads because of the snow, leaving four wounded, and transferring 19 people to hospitals because of gas suffocation, while services of weather monitoring, predict the return of rain here on Saturday, as to notice good weather on Sunday, then bad weather on Monday, then sunny days starting from Tuesday.
Deputy Director of Information at the civil protection, Maj. Farouk Achoure, told Echorouk on Friday, that the agents of protection rushed to rescue 24 pupils, who were on board of a bus trapped by snow in Bordj Bou Arreridj (eastern Algiers), on Thursday, in addition to the evacuation of passengers who were on board the 25 cars and 12 trucks surrounded by snow, at the national Road No. 5 in Setif (east), and evacuated vehicles after what the opening of the roads in Batna, Bejaia and the road linking Bejaia and Tizi Ouzou No. 30, as the national Road No. 15 linking Bouira and Tizi Ouzou closed before the traffic movement.
The spokesman added that; “Units of the civil protection intervened to save citizens in various floods due to torrential rains, in Algiers, Saida and Skika, as the fall of a wall in Makaria (Algiers), left two wounded who were evacuated and transferred to hospital. A significant number of operations was conducted to face water leak, reaching up to 4182 interventions at the national level”.
Gas incidents coincide with the low temperatures, as the services of civil protection evacuated a family of eight, who subjected to suffocation due to gas leak in the municipality of Didouche Mourad, Constantine (eastern Algeria), as they were transferred to the hospital, as well as a family of six, and another family of five persons have been offered first aid in Boussada (west).
Torrential rains in Tissemsilt (west) on Thursday, inundated many of houses, where rain water seeped into entire neighborhoods like Larjam, Thenia Had, and the collapse of the wall of a houses as well.
Civil protection elements were supported by teams of the National Bureau of Cleansing to be able to drain rainwater.
Two people were injured and transferred to medical emergency of public hospital after a car accident in Ain Sultan.
Strong g winds with an intensity of 80 kilometers per hour in Oran (western Algeria), caused the collapse of the walls in the neighborhood “Hamri” and another district “Darb”, causing also the fall of electric;;;;, which cause a cut of a cable with a high-pressure in Bettiwa near an oil station, as well as two electric in the area of San Roque(Ain Turk), and uprooted trees in Sidi Bakhti (Ain Karma), collapsed advertisement panels, and damaged dozens of water reservoirs, as well as dishes on surfaces of building, as services of civil protection warned of the risk of a building collapse in the street of “Ibn Sina” in Algiers.
