Bailiffs denounce marginalisation and call for more prerogatives
The president of the Algerian chamber of bailiffs Ahmed Sid Ahmed has called on bringing new dynamism to the role of the bailiffs in fighting against corruption through their involvement in the commercial transactions.

This institution is committed to play an active part in the all-out fight against corruption initiated by the Algerian authorities. However, Jean Ahmed Sid Ahmed has expressed his disappointment to the absence of the bailiffs during the commercial and economic deals sealed between the operators following the complaints lodged by those operators putting forward extra costs induced by this operation.

He has indicated that the absence if the bailiffs would cast doubt on the transparency of these transactions.

The bailiffs have raised concern over their exclusion from the electoral processes considering that their presence would add credibility and assure more transparency. The 1600 bailiffs consider they can play a seminal role during each electoral process especially that 60% among them belong to the young generation.

The chamber that counts three regional ones based in the east, west and the center of the country is working on doubling the number with the view to restructuring the sector and offset the shortage registered in some regions of the western parts of the country.

To achieve this objective, Jean Ahmed Sid Ahmed has announced that the chamber is due to discuss the possibility to reintegrate 102 bailiffs suspended five years ago for various reasons including professional misconducts.

The national chamber of bailiffs has called for the adhesion of Algeria to The Hague treaty sealed in 1965 that deals with the exchange of the commercial documents between countries considering the move important for the country’s economy.
