Basle Index: Algeria Ranks 51th In The World Against Money Laundering

Algeria has been ranked 51th in the world out of 149 countries in the Basel Convention against Money Laundering for the year 2016.

It was awarded 6.5 out of 10. Algeria was positioned in very decent terms compared to neighboring and Arab countries.

The Basle Index, issued by the Basel Institute of Governance including 149 countries around the world, consists of 10 degrees, representing the least dangerous zero point and the 10 most dangerous in terms of money laundering.

According to the report issued on Tuesday, over 26 pages, Algeria was classified in “a decent rank”, and according to the report, the rate granted to countries closer to ten, entail that they are “high risk” countries that don’t strive to combat the scourge of money laundering and vice versa. 

It was followed by Tajikistan with an average of 8.19. Finland was the best country in the ranking with 3.05, Lithuania 3.62, followed by Estonia and Bulgaria.
