Bejaia security forces hunt down prostitutes ahead of summer season

The gendarmerie services of the province of Bejaia, 250 KMS east of Algiers, are large- scale “cleansing” operation of the seaside resorts ahead of the summer season, leading to the arrest of 12 prostitutes in several night clubs located in Tichi and other neighborig areas.

• Echourouk was right on the spot when the elements of the gendarmerie have intercepted several individuals Sunday night at a famous hotel in the province of Bejaia including 16 prostitutes aged between 18 and 40.

• Most of them work at the same hotel as call girls and trap the rich clients who book there or consume alcohol at the bar. They are forced to comply to the “ house” requirements otherwise they are fired.

• One of them, called “ Soussou” has revealed to the investigators that she was compelled to do this “ job” to make a living, since she left home at the age of 16.

• “ How can  I live on my on in this cruel world”, she added.

• Another woman was hiding her face behind the prostitutes but when approached her she launched” I’m not like them ( the other women) I’m a married woman with four children but I have to do this job because my husband is jobless”.
