Belayat: “I will not resign”
Political office coordinator of Algeria’s FLN party Abderrahmane Belayat said he is the only person who has the prerogative to call in members to meeting and no release was issued to reject his appointment to the FLN’s structures at the People’s National Assembly.
“Even if fire is set on the FLN’s headoffice, I will not resign. There is no other coordinator than me,” Belayat told Echorouk TV in an interview.
He described the party’s structures appointments at the People’s National Assembly as “honest,” saying he is proud of being supported by the FLN’s former leader Abdelaziz Belkhadem.
Belayat criticized his political opponents inside the party and called them “anarchy snakes.”
Speaking about political current events, he said those who called on former Algerian President Liamine Zeroual to lead a transition phase in Algeria are “just dreaming.”
“I met Zeroual in his home with some members of the central commission and he told me he quitted the political life for good.”
