Benflis’ program: two presidential terms only
Ali Benflis, independent candidate for the presidential elections due to be held in April allocated an important part in his program to economics as he plans to eradicate corruption and dependence on hydrocarbons.
Benflis also focused on reviewing previous economic practices including foreign contribution in investment, justice, education and health reform and security reinforcement.
He suggests to create the National Agency of Companies so that it would play the role of one shop.
The economic program aims at reaching 10 goals: 7 percent of growth average out of hydrocarbons, 20 percent of industry contribution in GDP, $5 billion of exports out of hydrocarbons, to double annual average of creating business by 2019, to increase non oil tax level in the State’s budget to 50 percent by 2019, to make Algeria one of the most attractive countries in the Mediterranean Sea and the 50 most attractive countries on the international level in terms of business climate, to raise annual volume of foreign direct investments out of energy and infrastructure sectors to $1 billion starting from 2017, to increase bank loans for SMEs by 50 percent by 2019, to double job creation average in industry and services sector and to reduce unemployment average among graduate young people to 15 percent by 2019.
Benflis also committed to establish a national political dialogue to deepen political pluralism and support democracy. He suggested to launch a national charter against corruption.
He also plans to readopt the two presidential terms system stipulated by the Constitution.
