Benhadj: “excluded members are not allowed to speak on the FIS’ name”
Vice-president of the dissolved-Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) Ali Benhadj said anyone who is not part of its “legitimate commandment” is not allowed to speak on behalf of the FIS.
“The FIS expresses its positions in an official release and not on newspapers,” Benhadj told Echoruk.
This comes as media reported that the FIS’ former members Kamal Guemazi and Ali Djedi met with candidate Ali Benflis for consultations.
Benhadj did not give details about the consultations, saying meetings are continued with Benflis and other national personalities and parties.
“The FIS wants political radical deep solutions. It calls for a transitional phase in which all the parties are involved,” he added.
Speaking about some former members’ remarks, Benhadj said they did not have the right to talk on behalf the FIS as each one of them chose a different path.
“Of them, Rabah Kbir who did not want the FIS to come back to the political scene and wanted to create a new party. Anouar Hadam founded a party. Cheikh Hachemi Sahnouni and Ahmed Merrani can not speak on behalf the FIS because their membership was frozen.”
