Border with Libya to Remain Closed

A team of counter-terrorism investigators travelled to Tunisia to follow up on the investigation on the Sabratha incident injured, who were handed over by the Libyan authorities to their counterpart, on Monday through Ras Djedir border point, Identical sources told Echorouk.

To avoid the infiltration of terrorists who escaped from military operations, the armed forces raised the alert level, where since Friday, and intensive presence of air forces was remarked along the Libyan and Tunisian border, in Illizi and El Oued provinces, and large equipments were taken to the far southern border of Illizi, for a close follow-up of the situation in the border cities.
Decision of closing the Libyan border except in humanitarian cases or family statements continued to facilitate the movement between the members of interconnected families between the two countries.
Same sources ruled out the closure of the land borders with Tunisia, and merely said that actions that were taken were related to tightening controls on road passengers towards Tunisia or people who are coming to Algeria, in order to prevent ISIS terrorists to use the land crossings after freezing the air flights with Tripoli.
Control was intensified over the oil companies and vital installations in the far South, and mobile teams were deployed in the uncontrolled areas, especially in the border triangle of Libya-Tunisia-Algeria.
Previously, the US military operation that was carried out, on Thursday in the Libyan Sabratha, 60 km from the Tunisian border in the heart of the Libyan soil, where over 48 people died so far, including an ISIS leader, Abu Jehdr Tounsi, and the prominent Tunisian leader, Noureddine Chouchane, who is behind several operations in Tunisia and a number of SISI recruits, while the fate of the Tunisian Abu Ayath remains unknown, whether he is among the victims or not, even if some sources ruled out his death.
