Foreign Affairs Minister Sabri Boukadoum called for arranging the internal Arab house, pooling efforts and placing the Palestinian interest above all considerations, and seeking to establish a collective mechanism capable of dealing with unfolding changes and finding swift solutions.

Mr. Boukadoum added, on Monday, in his speech during the extraordinary ministerial meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States, that in light of the previous US administration’s bias towards the Zionist occupation, it has become necessary to work on resurrecting the path of negotiations in accordance with international regulations, as part of the principles of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.

In his speech, the foreign minister recalled Algeria’s firm and unconditional position on the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to regain full sovereignty over their lands, with the setting up of Al-Quds Al-Sharif as their capital.

Boukadoum called for the reform of the Arab League, which has become necessary to preserve the Arab ranks, strengthen solidarity and bolstering joint Arab action, by enhancing Arab and international fundamental values and references regarding the outstanding Palestinian cause.

He further stated, “Reforming the Arab League has become necessary to maintain harmony in the Arab ranks and maintain Arab national security.

To this end, he said, “it is necessary to review the structures and approaches of the current system in order to be able to keep pace with the unfolding changes and to activate the role of our organization in achieving peace and stability”.
