Bouteflika not obliged to withdraw the candidacy forms personally

Withdrawal of the forms for running for the Presidential Elections is not conditional on the presentation of the person to the Interior Ministry, Director of Public Freedoms and Legal Affairs at the Interior Ministry, Mohamed Talbi said.

“Law allows authorized replacing a candidate by a formal written document”, Talbi answered a question about the legality of withdrawing the froms to run for the Presidential Elections, in a clear reference to the fact that President Bouteflika, could have hired someone on his behalf to withdraw the form of candidacy due to his health condition.

Talbi entirely ignored a question about whether President Bouteflika’s forms of candidacy could be withdrew by the Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, as he dealt with the question like it has not been asked, and also refused to speak about issues that are related to politics, like the international observers who considered their arrival or not a decision that is politically sovereign and can only be asked on the part that is authorized to do so.

“Acts that call for boycotting the elections are unlicensed; Interior Ministry cannot take a step that opposes the works which it initiated to conduct the elections Parties, which called for the boycott are free in their decision, and in taking any position. Those are images of democracy, but the facilities that are available have been seized and will be directed only to the electoral campaign”.

Regarding the voters from the National People’s Army, and members of the statutory bodies, the representative of the Interior Ministry said; “The process will be as normal, as they are citizens who enjoy the same right. If the individual is registered in the municipality in which he/she works, and if that is not possible, i.e. the citizens is not registered, then the voting will be in the municipality with an official residence.
