Bouteflika warning over media plot in Algeria

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika warned against a media plot meant to hit Algeria’s safety and stability through a campaign targeting the President’s institution, the Army and the intelligence department.

“No one can damage the pillars on which republic foundation and benefits,” said Bouteflika in a letter on the Martyr’s National Day read by the War Veterans’ Minister Mohamed Cherif Abbas.

“No one has the right to settle his personal accounts with others to the detriment of higher national interests inside Algeria and abroad,” he added.

“Contrarily to what news reports which hit the State’s stability and the National Popular Army, the intelligence department remains totally mobilized for the best performance of its missions,” said the letter.

President Bouteflika talked about a plot, saying the “illusionary conflicts between the National Popular Army’s structures are due to a well-studied and planned operation meant to hit stability by those who do not like Algeria’s influence and role in the region.”

“Unfortunately, some irresponsible behaviors can provide this operation with appropriate conditions. Some others are not enough mature as they are under the effect of current media war against Algeria, the President’s Office, the National Popular Army and the intelligence department.”

Bouteflika also said “all the officials should hear their national conscience and go beyond all types of tension among them. This is necessary to ensure the State’s future and safety. All the citizens should be aware about the real purposes behind opinions and comments in the name of expression freedom. They have malicious objectives aiming at hitting and weakening the national defense and security system.”
