British newspapers scoff at the “Greens” of Algeria
Several British newspapers have largely dwelt on Algeria's surprising 3-nil setback on Monday versus Malawi as part of the first match of the 27th edition of he Africa Cup of Nations tournament now hosted by Angola by bringing into focus the paltry showing of the “Desert Foxes” in this decisive confrontation.

The “Daily Mail” newspaper devoted a lengthy article to the Algeria – Malawi fixture saying that Algeria’s “Desert Foxes” were logically outplayed by a willful Malawi squad in an empty stadium in Luanda.

The British media are closely following Algeria’s performance in this Africa Cup of Nations as Algeria will be in the same group with England in next June’s World Cup finals together with the USA and Slovenia.

For its part, the French news Agency (AFP) said that Malawi had taken their revenge on Algeria in the same African competition and with the same number of goals as the Malawi squad lost 3-nil versus the Greens 26 years ago.

The French news agency also pointed to the total absence of the public in Luanda stadium during this crucial fixture which was played in the afternoon under a scorching heat (35°) and a high humidity rate (75%).
