Businessman Rabrab considers first private university in Algeria

Issad Rabrab, CEO of Cevital, a leading Algerian private food industry group plans to open a private university in Algeria bringing local teachers and others working abroad, says press attaché.

“Cevital is ready to execute all the specifications set by Algerian High Education Ministry to open a private university in compliance with all standards,” said the group’s press attaché Kamel Sidi Said.

He added that the project does not raise any problem of facilities or budget but “it is a matter of finding competent teachers up to the challenge.”

“It is unreasonable to spend billions on huge structures without making sure of good training.”

Cevital’s representative said the planned university would mainly rely on Algerian teachers working in public sector and also on Algerian teachers living abroad.

“It may also go for foreign teachers if it is necessary,” he mentioned.

Earlier in 2007, Algerian parliament approved a law opening way for private operators to set up private universities but with very strict specifications.
