Car Imports Hike By 23% In Algeria

Algeria has imported 299.041 cars in the last nine months of 2011, comparing to 241.991 units in the same period of last year; a hike by 23.5 percent.

 

 

According to figures provided by the National Center for Informatics and Statistics (CNIS) at the Customs Department, car imports bill hiked by about 15 percent, shifting from 228.2 billion DZD during nine first months of 2010 to 261.83 billion DZD in the same period of 2011.

The forty car dealers operating in the North African nation have imported 280.897 cars in the same period with an amount of 237.88 billion DZD, with an increase of 23.91 percent comparing to the nine first month of 2010, when 226.699 cars were imported by 206.98 billion DZD, the figures show.

Yet, individuals have imported 293.15 cars in the first nine months of this year, paying 23.94 billion DZD, comparing to 144.18 cars in the same period of 2010 by 21.20 billion DZD, the source added.
