The investigative judge of the Fifth Chamber of the Specialized Criminal Pole at Algiers Sidi M’hamed Court referred the file of the General, Abdelghani Hamel, the former Director-General of National Security, and the rest of corrupt officials, to the scheduling department, to program the case in the Misdemeanor Court, where Hamel will be tried with 9 former governors, some of whom were ministers in the governments of Sallal and Ouyahia on serious corruption cases.

In the details, Echorouk sources revealed that the investigating counsel at the Supreme Court, after the second hearing of all the officials who were included in the judicial concession, including the ministers and governors who are involved in corruption cases with the former Director-General of National Security, the file was transferred to the specialized penal pole of Algiers Sidi M’hamed Court, which investigated with the General Abdelghani Hamel and his family, as the investigative judge of the fifth room of the same court referred the file to the scheduling department.

Abdelghani Hamel, members of his family, and 9 ex-governors, including Oran governor (west of Algeria) Abdelmalek Boudiaf, and Abdelghani Zaalane, and Mouloud Charifi, former governors of Oran, and Mohamad Alghazi in his capacity as former governor of Chlef and Abdelkader Kadi in his capacity as former governor of Tipaza, and Moussa Ghalay and Mostafa Al-Ayadi.

Algiers former governor, Abdelkader Zoukh, who is under judicial supervision, will also appear on charges of illicit enrichment with a significant increase in unjustified financial disclosure, money laundering and transfer of property resulting from criminal proceeds of corruption crimes which aim to conceal and disguise their illicit source within the framework of a criminal group which incite public officials to take advantage of their actual and supposed influence to obtain an undue advantage.

The case file includes the facts of the investigation that were carried out by the judicial authority of the National Gendarmerie by coordinating the research group of the Gendarmerie of Algiers with all the research factions of the regional groups of the gendarmerie across many provinces of the country, like Algiers, Oran, Tipaza, Blida, Tlemcen, which was investigated by the investigating judge of the Chamber 5 of Algiers Sidi M’hamed Court and the investigating adviser to the Supreme Court, where it was concluded that the Hamel family seized many properties that were converted into investment projects, similar to his son Mourad Hamel who seized property with the complicity of the former head of Tipaza security department using the influence of the former Director-General of National Security, on a land that was converted to build a large gas station, at the entrance to Tipaza Province, where it was illegally seized by exploiting the influence of his father, the General Hamel, according to the investigation file. The Hamel family also acquired two lands with an area of more than 500 hectares in Sidi Ghilas region, which is 45 km away from Tipaza province.

Investigations revealed that the Hamel family possesses several real estate and investment projects belonging to the state properties, whether in Tlemcen, Algiers, or Oran, which they obtained without right, prompting the investigating judge to charge the wife and children of General Hamel on looting the property and illicit wealth.
