“Chadli pardoned you and brought your financial rights back to you Zoubiri”
As we have the legal right to respond to Colonel Taher Zoubiri’s remarks published in your newspaper on January 6th about late President Chadli Bendjedid, we, his family represented in his brother, present the following clarifications:
We would like to inform Algerian people, through your honorable newspaper, of some information on behalf of late Bendjedid as he had qualities mainly silence wisdom.
Firstly, Taher Zoubili is certainly the first who should admit that he knew that he was prosecuted by Algerian justice when he arrived to the Algiers Airport. Archives show that an arrest warrant was issued for him. He was arrested by security forces at the Algiers Airport. He remembers that very well. Once late Bendjedid was told about that by late national police chief Hadi Lakhdiri, he ordered to allow him to enter in and join his family. The president had decided a general amnesty for all the political opposition activists.
Secondly, did Taher Zoubiri forget or does he still remember that the late president wanted to settle his administrative and financial situation like any other political prosecuted activists at that time?
Thirdly, did he forget that the house from which your family was kicked out was brought back to you thanks to late Bendjedid’s decision? Everyone recognizes that the late president was faithful to war veterans including the Revolution Council’s members.
Fourthly, Bendjedid’s family and me remember that the late man was in hospital in 2011 to undergo a surgery. At that time, you repeated those words: “Chadli stands always by strong people’s side.” Chadli answered: “fool people must not be answered.”
Fifthly, may us ask and defy you Mr. Taher to say why didn’t you respond to retired sergeant-major’s remarks as he denied all your allegations about a failed coup attempt against late President Houari Boumediene.
Finally, your remarks show that you regret what you lost. You were dreaming of turning the National Popular Army into an army specialized in coups so that the country would never be stable.
We can not criticize you as you were member of the Revolution Council and we respect your family. Bendjedid’s family will never criticize you even after your death because we do not criticize dead people as you did today.
Remark: Bendjedid’s family preserves the right to judicial prosecution and asks the newspaper to publish the clarifications in accordance to the law.
May Allah bless all Algeria’s martyrs.
Khelifa Bendjedid
Late President Chadli Bendejedid’s brother
