Chairman of the Human Rights National League: The presidential Alliance should be disbanded
The Chairman of the Human Rights National League, the lawyer Boudjemaa Guechir has denounced what he dubbed as the policy of “ copy and paste†of the events occurring in some neighbouring countries to extrapolate them on Algeria, asserting that his association is not concerned by the march of February 12.
- However, he called for fostering democracy through peaceful practices and the disbanding of the presidential alliance.
- Expressing himself over the march scheduled for February 12, the lawyer has indicated that his vision is based on two key principles: the first one lies in the necessity to change the political system “ the political regime in Algeria is a fertile ground for crisis and is feeding upon them”.
- He went on saying” We cannot fulfil democracy and emancipate human rights amidst this regime; this is why we called for political, social and economic reforms”.
- As to the second principle; the interlocutor has indicated” We consider that the Algerians are not in need of the transfer of ideas from Tunisia and Egypt or use the “copy paste” principle; he added” we are not concerned by the march but we will not give up our demand for the lifting of the state of emergency”.
- “We need constitutional reforms to clarify the prerogatives of the president and his Prime Minister so as to guarantee the check and balance between the three branches and decide over the identity issue because we consider that the Algerian society is moving towards different directions and is doomed to lose its identity if it is not guided”, he said.
