Chérif Abbas: “Algeria waiting for concrete action from President François Hollande”

The Mudjahidine or War Veterans’ Minister, Mohamed Chérif Abbas, said Monday in Algiers that his ministerial department bitterly deplored in terms of history-writing, the publishing abroad of manifold books putting on an equal footing “the victim and the executioner”.

• Speaking to the national radio, Mr Chérif Abbas indicated that it was not possible for the time being to produce high-grade literary products in view of the deficit in terms of history-writing, pointing out however that there were nonetheless skilled people in this field who are regarded as outstanding authors of fundamental literary works.

  The Mudjahidine minister further hit out against those biased books published overseas “putting on the same footing the victim and the brutal executioner and by the same token the valiant resistance, the bitter struggles and untold sufferings of the oppressed Algerian people with the merciless occupier” describing this as a very blameworthy distortion of historical facts.

  Mr Mohamed Chérif Abbas also that Algeria was awaiting concrete actions from newly-elected French President François Hollande in order to straighten out the haunting file of the horrendous misdeeds committed by the 132 year-long French colonial yoke in Algeria so as to usher in a brighter future in the relations between the two countries.
