Citizens Unable to Issue Biometric Passport

Thousands of citizens over 5 provinces are unable to issue birth certificate required in the biometric passport which is to be enforced in 2014.

In fact, archives of some town halls in the provinces of Boumerdes, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Medea and Bejaia, had been subject to damage by terror groups in the nineties, as original documents were burned up. 

For now, thousands citizens are unable to issue the birth certificate number 12 which is part of the bunch of documents required by local authorities to issue the new biometric passport.

This situation has also prevented citizens from getting wedding certificates, which also requires the birth certificate number 12.

Ministry of Interior is urged to solve such a problem to empower the citizens in question with the right to have a passport. 

However, some town halls have started re-subscribing the citizen of which original documents have been ravaged, but local authorities in charge of issuing the biometric passport are still rejecting recognizing them.
