Consensus Between Algeria And Qatar On Topical Regional And International Issues

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, pointed on Tuesday in Algiers to a “total agreement” between Algeria and Qatar on various regional and international issues.

At a joint press conference with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al-Thani, on an official visit to Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune said the two countries had reached a “total understanding” on Tuesday in Algiers on various regional and international issues of common concern.

President Tebboune said he had “had face-to-face discussions,” with the visiting Emir of the State of Qatar, adding that these talks were marked by “a total agreement” between the two countries on the points raised both in the economic and political fields as well as on regional (Arab world) and international issues.

President Tebboune wished that this consensual agreement between the two countries would continue, while expressing his thanks to Sheikh Tamim for his visit to Algeria.

For his part, Sheikh Tamim said in the joint press conference, “We value the regional and Arab role of Algeria,” adding that “Algeria has an honorable history in resolving many of the conflicts that exist in the region and the Arab world, and we need Algeria because the Arab world, unfortunately, is going through many crises.” He expressed his hope that the upcoming Arab summit to be held in Algeria would be crowned with “success”.

Regarding the talks he had with President Tebboune, Sheikh Tamim stressed that they were “constructive and kind, and we agreed on all matters,” stressing his determination to “strive to develop bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries notably in the economic and investment fields”.

The talks held by the President of the Republic with the visiting Emir of the State of Qatar were later expanded to include members of the delegations of the two countries, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic, in the presence on the Algerian side, of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Boukadoum, the Minister of Industry and Mines Ferhat Ait Ali, the Minister of Finance Abderahmane Raouya in addition to the Minister Adviser and official spokesman of the Presidency of the Republic, Belaid Mohand Oussaid.

On the Qatari side, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Thani and Minister of Finance Sheikh Ali Sharif Al-Emadi were also in attendance.

The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al-Thani, left Algiers Tuesday afternoon at the end of a one-day official visit to Algeria.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani was greeted on his departure at Houari-Boumediene International Airport of Algiers by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, members of the Government and senior state officials.

During this visit, the Emir of the State of Qatar held talks with President Tebboune with whom he exchanged views on topical issues of common concern.
