Algerian Customs have seized 3.1 billion DZD counterfeited goods in 2011 in Algiers port and airport.

The APS news agency has quoted an official at the Trade Department of Algiers as saying that “In 2011, control officials at the port and the international airport of Algiers have endured tests on about 433 samples of different types of imported goods, and finally seized an equivalent of 3.1 billion DZD of non-complying goods.”

Out of the 433 samples, the majority of 359 samples were complying with standards, while the rest 72 were non-complying, the source said.

The samples were tested by biologists coordinating with the Customs department, the official added.

Elsewhere, the overall unbilled transactions hit 5.89 million DZD, while illegal revenues were estimated at 4.1 million DZD, the source concluded.
