The family of the girl, Aya,9, and her mother appealed to the Algerian authorities to help deportation of their bodies after they were dumped by the sea waves on the Spanish coast with 14 people on board a rubber boat, who were on an illegal journey from one of the beaches of Mostaganem (western Algeria) to Spain about two weeks ago, but the weather conditions killed them and the boat sank 8 km from the shore of Murcia, Spain, at a time when there were conflicting statements regarding the number of the dead and the missing, sources indicated that only 3 illegal immigrants survived the death journey, while the rest were considered dead.
The aunt of the girl Aya told Echorouk that the Spanish consulate in Oran confirmed to them the news of the death of Aya and her mother, as this news spread like wildfire and Aya’s pictures became invading social media pages, as Mostaganem city was affected by this tragedy, and a Spanish newspaper published the details of the child’s journey, as she considered it the worst tragedy of an illegal immigrants’ boat, and indicated that all the migrants were smiling because the journey was about to end, but those long hours of travel were only a prelude to the hell they lived when the weather worsened, and the same source added that Aya’s mother was looking for a new life.
In this regard, the girl’s family called on Algerian authorities to expedite the delivery of their bodies to bury them, especially since they took all administrative measures, and the girl’s aunt reported that this situation made the family live in a state of constant anxiety awaiting the two bodies, and called on Algerian authorities to help them to bring the bodies of Aya and her mother to relieve the family.
