Detectives Recoup SAM Missiles Smuggled From Libya

Security services have arrested arm trafficking suspects in Ouargla southeastern province, believed smuggling SAM missiles’ spare parts from Libya.

 

Detectives started the investigation after collecting accurate information about a an unidentified group of people who managed smuggling a load of heavy and light weapons from Libya via the south eastern border, including from Ouargla and Illizi provinces. 

The detectives managed tracking down the group and arrested 3 people, in later August, carrying Algerian nationality and ranging between 45 and 56 years old.

They were subject to cross examination to identify their partners inside and outside the country, as well as revealing the destination of the smuggled Russian made SAM missile launchers and their spare parts.

The three defendants have been transferred to Algiers the capital to look at their relation with al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM).
