Did Algerian-Russian relationships enter the tunnel stage? Despite they were an example in durability and continuity even before independence.

Interfax Russian News Agency said that the Russian company of Railways RGD, won a tender to accomplish a project in Algiers since five years, but obstacles are still hindering the launch of works.

The agency quoted Alexander Soltanov, vice president of the company as saying that the Algerian side long remiss the approval on this project and in consequence the Russian company faced large losses related to bank safeguards and is still suffering from the same problem.

“Currently we are studying this issue by lawyers from both sides. We feel that we are right, as our advisers assert that our position is true legally. We will continue efforts to reach a settlement in our favour in this case”.

A week before this statement, the Moroccan capital Rabat embraced a special meeting between Russian ambassadors to Maghreb countries, Sahel region and desert, that was allocated to search developments of security situations and the ways to deal with them in the region.

Former Russian Minister of Communication and Culture said Russia is Algeria’s first partner in armament, adding that Algeria’s most war aircrafts are Russian made.
