Disgruntled pre-employment contract workers threaten to converge massively on Algiers
A large number of pre-employment contract workers and those belonging to the social network staged on Monday manifold protest rallies outside official buildings in 35 provinces of Algeria to press for the fulfillment of their long-neglected socio-professional claims.
The coordinator of the national committee in charge of representing this category of part-time workers, Mohamed Boulsina, told Echorouk that yesterday’s massive protests held in 35 provinces of the country were a telling signal sent to the relevant authorities to prompt them to live up to the legitimate aspirations of this vulnerable section of the population by providing it with decent jobs as part of full-time employment contracts.
He explained that the number of these hapless workers, getting now ludicrous wages, reached over 800 thousand across the national territory, adding that they were awaiting a serious reply from the government before deciding on the next steps to take to further their claims.
The national committee’s coordinator also underlined that in case the authorities’ turned a deaf ear to their long-overdue socio-processional claims, thousands of these workers were determined to converge on the capital Algiers in massive protest marches.
He also hit out against the unabated repressive measures unleashed on some committee members by local authorities in several areas of the country notably in Oran province with the blatant aim of stifling the ongoing protest movement.
