Djaballah: “I will run for the Presidential Elections if I’m asked to do that”
Head of the Justice and Development Front party, Abdallah Djaballah, said on Monday, that his party is interested in the presidential elections of 2014, without declaring his willingness to run.
Djaballah added that the Shoura Council of the party decided to hold a meeting during Ramadan to decide about this matter.
According to Djaballah, who did not disclose yet his intention to run for the presidential elections, the Shura Council, which decided to continue the restructuring of the front across all the wilayas, and the formation of representations across all cities in preparation for upcoming elections, as well as to engage in consultations with the concerned political class, whether they are Islamic or national parties.
Djaballah avoided replying to a question about his intention to run for the elections, saying only that he would not hesitate in doing that, if the Shura Council of the party would force him.
Djaballah is the First Party Chairman calculated on the Islamic movement who expresses his intention to run for the presidential elections, at a time other parties calculated on the same stream try to form a single front through participating with a single candidate, in order not to distract the base of Islamists, an initiative that was considered by many difficult under the pretext of the tendency to leadership.
Abdellah Djaballah justifies refusal to run for the presidential elections for the years 1999 and 2004, that it was in response to the desire of the militancy basis, which forced him not to run, saying that he will decide according to its decision also for elections 2014, saying: “If the Shura Council and comrades of the front will decide that I should run for the elections, I will do it”.
With regard to the review of the constitution, the speaker considered that the current constitution «contains several intentional and deliberate imperfections“, recalling that he had proposed in the recent past a draft constitution that is “integrated”.
