Head of the Justice and Development Front (under construction), Abdellah Djabellah, has, recently, met ambassadors of France and the US to Algeria, and discussed with them several issues, including the political reforms in the North African nation and the Arab Spring.

Senior official at the Justice and Development Front, Lakhdar Ben Khelaf, told Echorouk reporter that “in fact, the French and the US ambassadors requested to meet Mr Djabellah, who received them in the party headquarters in Algiers,” adding that “Mr Djabellah met the US Ambassador last Wednesday, and then received the French Ambassador on Tuesday.”

Mr Khelaf said the western diplomats wanted to have an idea on Djabellah’s point of view vis-à-vis the political reforms which President Bouteflika launched.

The Constitutional Council, which is still without chairman since the end of the term of Mr Boualem Bessayeh on 15 September, was among the discussed issues, given that such a body plays a key role in the validation of the laws that accompany the reforms, the source added.

The official mentioned further that the Arab Spring that blows on the region was raised by both ambassadors, noting that the French Ambassador enquired Mr Djabellah on the manifesto he is intended to implement incase he reached power.
