A number of specialists warned, at Echorouk seminar, of the unprecedented growing of crime and violence in Algeria due to the lack of social justice and the role of family, school and mosque.

Same specialists asserted that lack of confidence among citizens in their government which failed to protect them, despite the legal and deterrent measures which remain without affect, as long as the sense of injustice exists, is another important reason behind the increasing problems of violence and crime in Algeria.

The head of the National Association for Health Promotion and Development of Research “FORAM”, Mr. Kheyati said, during Echorouk forum on violence and crime in Algeria, that a study in 2000 warned of a wave of violence in Algeria in 2011, led by more than 950.000 youth victims of the civil war, who did not receive psychological and social aid by the state, making them human bombs that can explode each others, due to the lack of social justice which marginalized Algerian youth and push them to resentment of anything symbolizing the state, which  becomes in their eyes only a machine of oppression and injustice.

“The main reason of violence is the national tragedy which left more than a million victims, including 50.000 kids and the rest were left as prey to nightmares and social oppression. The past kids are today’s youth without a future or reality, making them a machine of violence which would destroy the countries future”, he added.

“The Ministry of Youth and Sports turned to a ministry of the national football team, while in Algeria there are over twenty million youth who need care and training, and these crowds of youth can explode at any time with the rising volume of unemployment, illegal immigration and housing problems. We call upon the government to activate the role of youth centers in attracting large numbers youth which suffer despair, making the more aggressive and violent. Many studies show that violence in Algeria is increasing dangerously and is threatening the social values, which leads to the need for more efforts for framing youth and kids which have become more aggressive. It dangerous to see a pupil at the primary school burning wheels of cars and closing the roads to study in crowded sections”, he asserted.
