Echorouk Newspaper Initiative: Algerian Politicians and journalists gather in stand of solidarity with Egyptians

Echorouk Newspaper organizes, here on Tuesday, a stand in solidarity with the Egyptian journalists, aiming to support companions of the profession in Egypt following the political crisis gripping their country, and the uprising of the Egyptian street against the ruling regime, demanding removal of the president Hosni Mubarak.

 

 Algerian intellectuals, journalists and national political figures attended the stand for solidarity.

 

General Manager of Echorouk Newspaper, Ali Fodil opened the stand and expresses solidarity of the newspaper’s staff and all Algerian journalists with their Egyptian counterparts who covered the protests, condemning the political siege imposed on them by the Egyptian authorities. He gives the example of Al Jazeera office which was closed.

 

Abdelhamid Mahri, Algerian war veteran and former Secretary General of the National Liberation Front said; “Arab People have the right for peaceful change of their regimes currently. Arab rulers have to take the lesson from these angry people. What happens in Egypt is a message to all Arab regimes for the need to take necessary steps for democracy. Officials in Algeria must draw lessons from the revolution of our neighbors. I support peaceful political change in Egypt”.

 

The former Algerian Prime Minister, Ahmad Ghouzali thinks that tension in Egypt do not differ those in other Arab countries, including Algeria. Arab Presidents have to diagnose these problems before it is too late. I condemn suppression of people and I wish at the same time total peaceful change will be realized”.

 

Abdelaziz Rehabi, former Minister of Information said; “Social justice and freedom must be achieved for Arab people”.

 

Lekhdar Bourekaa, war veteran and commander of Fourth Region during the Algerian revolution said; “Algerian-Egyptian ties were not broken, they are still strong, and the evidence is this stance of solidarity with our Egyptian brothers”.

 

Suleiman Chennine, General Manager of “Arraid” Centre for Studies supported Channine’s talk adding; “Reconciliation between the Egyptian-Algerian masses is done”.

 

However, the International writer Amine El Zaoui said; “The real tyranny by rulers of Arab regimes is gone, it is the end of the classical and traditional political parties and the emergence of other groupings like the facebook parties and youth express their freedom using modern communication means, including internet and sms messages via mobile phones.
