Echorouk visits Algiers Hospitals: Doctors Protesting, Minister threatening, Patients dying

Patients crammed in front of different wings, suffering, wounded children crying…are horrible scenes smuggled from the capital’s hospitals, where public health practitioners still insist on striking for a second day, to increase the sufferings of patients which exceeds the reasonable degree, all dates of examination and medical care are postponed … patients who were waiting impatiently for the day of treatment and alleviation of their pain continue suffering, but there is no talk about their “suffering”, especially people with with cancer, kidney and other deadly diseases that are not unforgiving.

This is the situation of patients Echorouk met in some of the capital’s hospitals on Monday, where intractable cases which faced absence a specialist doctor, because he simply “Does not work” and is striking, as a citizen, who was screaming loudly, said in the service of the heart disease of Parney hospital (Algiers) saying “… Oh people we are dying, think of us …I am travelling from one hospital to another,” an elderly woman added, “No one thinks about us .. neither the doctor nor the State“.

We moved to another service for kids, where we found women waiting with their kids and rooms filled with patiends, but there is only one doctor in the context of a minimum of services provided, a woman said: “I came here early for my baby, and yet my turn did not come after.. I do not have enough money to pay a private doctor … and this is the case of the poor citizens in our country, who is subject to all the bad circumstances.The same case was applied in the rest of the hospitals that we visited, where citizens visite the various services, particularly surgical ones.

Whatever we say in this regard, all patients unanimously agreed on on blaming the public authorities, especially the Minister of Health which stood helpless, shocked in front of what is happening, as if it does not care, and fail to find a solution to the suffering of patients, which see their demands as legal and legitimate, and will not bow to threats of any party whatever it costs them.
