Education sector in a boiling-point in southern Algeria

The sector of education in the south is on the verge of explosion because of the pending problems related to the vacations, exams schedules and the special bonuses allocated for the teachers.

• The situation has reached a point of no return due to the laxity of the supervisory ministry and the incapacity of the authorities to settle the long standing issues that undermined the sector so far.

•  

• In a communiqué, which Echourouk received a copy; the Education Workers’ Union has, in this respect, called on the necessity to tackle the problems that stand as an impediment to the sector’s workers in that region at earliest.

• It has also called on the other unions of the civil service sector in the southern region to join efforts and coordinate with them in a bid to fulfil their common demands including the so called “ zone  bonus”.

• As to the issue related to vacations, the communiqué has added” The relevant authorities didn’t take into consideration the weather conditions prevailing in that region where temperatures rise above normal six months a year in comparison with the northern parts of the country.

• In addition to the natural phenomenon, most of the classrooms are ill- conditioned which impacts on the intellectual capacities of the pupils in the south in comparison to their fellow comrades in the north.
