National Education Minister, Baba Ahmed Abdellatif, attacked severely the education syndicates who are striking using his heavy remarks, as he considered their strike as a “civil disobedience”, stressing that they represent only a small group that have rebelled against the laws of the Republic, at the time he blamed them for what might happen in the future.

Education Minister intervened through the Technical Symposium that was organized at the headquarters of the ministry about the phenomenon of “violence in schools”, where he said, “Strike of the Syndicates is no longer a strike, but it becomes a kind of civil disobedience, and because justice has decided permanently in the protest movement by saying that their strike is illegal, these few strikers have rebelled against the laws of the Republic, and must take full responsibilities regarding what may occur from slips in the field.

At the time he stressed that the Ministry would not retreat from the application of “deterrent” procedures against the strikers.

Education Minister also attacked the Independent National Council of Secondary and Technical Schools’ Teachers “CNAPEST”, by saying; “That syndicate which is called CNAPEST has pulled in one of the meetings that brought us out without any respect, and therefore it insulted me as a symbol of the state, because I represent the state, and therefore it also does not deserve respect.”

“I worked as a teacher over 40 years and I did not strike one day in my life, and I challenge those who say the opposite, and hence the strikers should assume their responsibilities, because they have received all their rights and the proof is that their salaries are better than the salaries of university professors if we make a comparison.”

Baba-Ahmed pays to septic conditions within schools

Independent Education Syndicates described the procedures that contained threats of the Education Ministry against the strikers as being illegal and a blatant abuse, accusing it of paying the conditions to septic by neglecting laws of the Republic. At the time they announced that the strike is a strike of teachers who insist on continuing the strike until the embodiment of the commitments that were written and signed by the Minister Baba Ahmed.

National Secretary in charge of Information and Communication at the National Union of Workers of Education and Training, Messaoud Amraoui, told Echorouk; “The ministry’s instructions are contradictory, because sometimes it orders the strikers to stay in the Educational Institutions, and at other times it orders to prevent them from staying inside the schools”.

Teachers refuse to be forced to go out into the street, and prefer staying inside their Educational Institutions, and will maintain the restoration of the situation because the goal is achieving the demands of the protest movements and the application of the laws of the Republic”.

“UNPEF launched a peaceful strike, and the ministry wants to reach septic conditions, and is the party which violates the laws of the Republic, instead of resorting to reconciliation.

For his part, National Secretary in charge of Information and Communication at the Independent National Council of the Secondary and Technical School’s Teachers (CNAPEST), Messaoud Boudiba, said; “The Minister should have rushed for the embodiment of his previous obligations and commitments, instead of taking deterrent and illegal action. Education Ministry started with instigating parents against teachers, and when it failed it resorted to inciting pupils against their teachers by giving instructions to close the educational institutions and to prevent access to them. CNAPEST represent the state and everyone should respect the state.
